National Portrait Gallery
Saturday 29th July
We are excited to visit the revamped National Portrait Gallery which has been undergoing a major facelift over the last three years. The NPG is the world’s biggest collection of portraits which brings together images of historical and contemporary leaders, change makers and cultural icons.
The building as well as the display has undergone a number of changes reflecting on the changing nature of the British society and aims to readdress such issues as the historic gender disparity with a number of new female portraits acquired and exhibited. We will explore some of the most striking portraits in the collection and reflect on what they tell us about Britain today.
After the visit we will have a light lunch at O Be Joyful where we can continue our discussions about art and portraits!
